Delias of the Lesser Sunda Islands, from Bali to Aru

The islands which make up the Eastern part of Indonesia are the home to a varied and unique range of insects, and the Delias are no exception.

Many species/subspecies are endemic to a single island. Many of the smaller islands have, as yet, very few species of Delias. This is primarily due to the fact that many of the islands have not been fully investigated scientifically. The recent discovery of D. akikoae on Aru, a quite well documented island, bears up this observation.
